Trevor Project uses Texas billboards to engage in political speech.

Trevor project is running digital billboard campaign across 120 digital faces in Austin, Dallas, Houston and San Antonio, Texas.  This is a great example of the use of out of home for political speech and issue advocacy.  Josh Weaver, VP of Marketing at The Trevor Project tells Billboard Insider this:

“This campaign is a result of rapid-response marketing following the dangerous rhetoric surrounding gender-affirming medical care as a form of ‘child abuse’ in Texas. As our first-ever Digital Out of Home effort, we were determined to spread a bold, topical, mission-driven message in a unique way for optimal visibility. Over the past year, our marketing team has seen significant growth, unlocking our ability to execute impactful campaigns on a larger scale than ever before. We knew that utilizing a statewide Digital Out of Home strategy would give us the opportunity to spread our message to even more LGBTQ young people and their families, letting them know that we are always a resource for them.”

Billboard Insider’s take:  Out of home helps all the voices in a community – left, right, center – engage in political speech.  Don’t be shy about pointing this out to regulators and elected officials in your town.
