Does this sign keep businesses from moving to Pittsburgh?

Scenic Pittsburgh is opposing Lamar’s conversion of a Mount Washington sign into a billboard.  Michael Dawida, Scenic Pittsburgh’s executive director had this quote in a recent newspaper article on the issue:

“In today’s world, companies can go anywhere.  They can set up headquarters anywhere.  To get and keep the new companies, you need beauty, and we have that and we have to emphasize that.”

Insider’s take:  To get and keep companies you need a good workforce, reasonable regulations, a moderate tax burden and customers.  Outdoor advertising helps local businesses to get and keep customers.  Billboards can also give energy to a city.  Times square and its billboards are the most visited location in the world.  The  Nashville Sign and the Baltimore Art Sign are assets for their cities.   Insider wishes Mr Dawida would visit the 2016 Baltimore Artscape to see how a billboard adds energy to a street fair.
