Your state regulators may be changing the software they use to track your billboards.
Equipment World reports that The American Association of Highway Transportation Officials (AASHTO) is adopting the Mississippi Department of Transportation’s control system for outdoor advertising on billboards which will allow the software to become the national standard for billboard controls.
The software allows state regulators to view billboard locations via GPA coordinates and Google maps and to communicate and coordinate with billboard owners.
Insider’s take: Standardized state software is a good thing. It will help billboard companies which operate in multiple states and ought to lower licensing fees which could mean lower permit fees charged to billboard companies.
