LOS ANGELES, CALIFORNIA, FEBUARY 27, 2025 — Skies Above Media (SAM), a leading independent out of home advertising media owner and operator based in the Los Angeles area, collaborated with Los Angeles based nonprofit newsroom, LAist, and the Los Angeles Regional Food Bank to provide essential fire and donation information via a digital billboard to the Greater Los Angeles area.
“When the Eaton and Palisades fires hit, we immediately echoed feelings everyone else in LA had – fear and uncertainty, heaviness and helplessness. With many of our team members living in the San Gabriel Valley, and as a Pasadena based company for over 30 years, the Eaton Fire hit especially close to home,” said Glyn Williams, Chief Executive Officer of Skies Above Media. “We came together as a team and asked each other ‘what can we do to make even the simplest, most immediate impact.’ Out of Home advertising – especially digital – is the largest megaphone for brands to deliver their message to millions of people. We had to find a way to leverage that megaphone to ease people’s feelings of uncertainty and helplessness. We’re so thankful for our friends at the LAist and the Greater LA Food Bank join us in making impact to the community.”
As Los Angeles communities rebuild from the fires, Skies Above Media, LAist and the LA Regional Food Bank are committed to ensuring their assistance to their community. With Really Simple Syndication (RSS) Feed technology via a SAM-owned digital bulletin in the San Gabriel Valley, real time alerts via LAist were broadcasted to surrounding communities by the affected areas. These updates can reach across impacted areas to provide essential information on how to prepare and what to look for.
“At LAist, our mission is to keep Angelenos informed and prepared, especially in times of crisis. With the most recent fires fully contained, we remain committed to providing timely, accurate, and essential information to help residents navigate recovery efforts and access the resources they need,” said Sophie Chap, Director of Marketing and Communication at LAist. “Through our RSS feed and wildfire recovery coverage, we aim to be a trusted resource for those seeking updates, resources, and expert insights.”
Various LA Regional Food Bank messaging provided information for donations and food assistance to those affected. The LA Regional Food Bank is accepting financial, and food donations at their two distribution centers. If you’d like to donate, please view details on distribution sites and the list of food and non-food items needed. Volunteers are still being accepted, please register and see volunteer requirements.
“We are grateful to Skies Above Media for donating billboard advertising for the Los Angeles Regional Food Bank, which has helped us raise critical awareness during this challenging time,” said Roger Castle, Chief Development Officer of the LA Regional Food Bank. “Their support helped us raise awareness and resources so that more of our neighbors can access food assistance amid the Greater Los Angeles wildfires.”
Skies Above Media continues to expand their efforts to assist Angelenos and send their support to the affected communities impacted by the Palisades and Eaton fires. If you are interested in providing any updates on how to help these communities via Out of Home Advertising, please contact Skies Above Media for further information.
