SOUTH PASADENA, CALIFORNIA, MARCH 7, 2023 — Skies Above Media (SAM), a leading independent out of home advertising media owner and operator based in the Los Angeles area, has promoted Joanna Weiss from East Region Sales Director to Vice President, National Sales. She will serve as the company’s head of sales and become a member of the company’s leadership team.
Weiss joined Skies Above Media in June, 2021 as their East Region Sales Director and made immediate contributions to increasing revenue from primarily New York and Boston based media agencies and clients. Since joining Skies Above Media, the company’s percentage of revenue from East Region based advertisers increased by 36%. Prior to SAM, Weiss spent nearly 15 years in OOH and media advertising at companies Westfield, Pedicab Outdoor, BMF Media, and CityEventions.

In this newly created role, Weiss will continue to handle all East Region sales and business development while also taking on duties within the company’s leadership team. Some of her new roles will include collaborating with company leadership to provide strategic direction on annual revenue goals and leading company revenue performance throughout the year; developing OOH sales opportunities through strategic planning with key clients; contributing to the asset growth and development that optimizes our brand positioning; and managing all sales representatives and assistants.

Richard Mahlmann founded Mahlmann Media in 1989 with a single billboard in Fresno, California, and the company grew to become one of California’s largest independent media operators. Richard’s wife, Susan, later succeeded him as CEO and became the company’s owner when Richard passed away in 2019. Williams purchased Mahlmann Media in April, 2021 and rebranded the company to Skies Above media in October, 2021. The seasoned leadership team at Skies Above Media also includes Chief Operating Officer Michael Cook, a minority owner who has been with the company for over 15 years.
