Ten outdoor advertising and sign companies have proposed their own ordinance to Sussex County according to CapeGazette. The group includes Geyer Signs, Hocker Signs, Jack Lingo Realtors, JD Sign Co, Ocean Atlantic, Phillips Sign Co, Timmons Outdoor, Rogers Sign, Clear Channel Outdoor and Premier Outdoor. The companies have introduced their own ordinance because they feel like their input has been ignored in the process. They are specifically concerned about two items:
- The Sussex County proposed ordinance includes a ban on digital billboards and electronic message centers.
- The Sussex County proposed ordinance would ban billboard variances.
The Sussex County council will have a hearing on on May 24 to discuss a new sign ordinance.
