As we round out the year, OAAA salutes bipartisan political involvement on behalf of out of home media.
Here are recent examples – across the country and the political spectrum – that highlight OAAA-member outreach to educate officeholders:
California
OAAA Board member Jim Moravec leads Stott Outdoor Advertising based in Chico, CA. Jim and Laura Moravec are involved in their community, including knowing their local congressman, Doug LaMalfa (R-CA) who sits on the House Transportation & Infrastructure Committee.
Georgia
In Georgia, longtime OOH advocate Randy Romig remembers Johnny Isakson decades ago as a Realtor and stand-up gentleman. Now a three-term US Senator, Isakson (R-GA) announced in August he would retire at the end of the year due to health problems. Last week, digital billboards in Georgia expressed thanks for Isakson’s long service to the public.
Tennessee
Steve Cohen (D-TN) is a congressman from Memphis. Before that, he was elected to the state legislature, where he pushed for a state lottery. Cohen is shown here in Memphis with Lamar Advertising execs from Tennessee.
Illinois
Kam Buckner of OUTFRONT Media started as an intern for Senator Dick Durbin (D-IL) and later joined the senator’s staff. Now Buckner is a state representative in Illinois; both Durbin and Buckner are seeking re-election in 2020.
