Rumor Has It – Sept 3

  • stock-photo-listening-male-holds-his-hand-near-his-ear-204831052Sales leaders are leaving Clear Channel Outdoor.   Numerous VP sales spots open.  Questions as to whether Branch Presidents can pick up the slack.
  • Third quarter national outdoor business may be down for all the outdoor companies except maybe Lamar.  Hard to believe given the strong start to the year.
  • Is Fairway’s smiley face stunt in Greenville South Carolina a campaign on behalf of  customer or simply a way to draw attention to vacant signs?  Perhaps vacancies are up from an attempt to push rates.  Let Insider know if you’ve seen any Fairway Greenville signs lately.
  • Lamar may be circling Clear Channel’s Tampa/Ocala/Melbourne/Orlando plant.
  • Commercial flights resumed to Cuba this week.  Insider heard about an American investment group that considered entering the Cuban outdoor advertising market.  They passed because they were worried about their assets dissappearing on the stroke of a government pen.  Good decision.  The outdoor assets of the major public companies in central and south america are undervalued compared to US outdoor assets due to market concerns about property rights and the enforcement of contracts.
