Rothfelder on IBO Conference in FT. Worth October 8-11

As usual, Becky Smith, Chris Cowlbeck, Sarah Davis, and the rest of the outstanding crew at IBO have scheduled a fun and educational Fall conference. This year, we’ll be meeting at the Sheraton Ft. Worth Downtown Hotel, from October 8 through 11. The agenda is packed full of great presentations, exciting evening outings, and plenty of networking time to catch up with friends and colleagues from across the Country.

There’s actually two legal presentations Mike Falick, Chris Rothfelder, and I will be presenting this year. Fist, Mike and I will be answering questions, literally in a session entitled “Q & A for R & F: Answers to Members’ Questions on Hot Legal Topics.” Prior to this Fall’s conference, Billboard Insider and IBO announced that we’d be selecting the top three questions submitted in advance for a discussion at our Wednesday afternoon presentation. And, the winners are: (1) What is the FTC’s Rule on non-compete agreements, along with the recent judicial ruling on it, and how do these effect our non-compete agreements? (2) A persistent advertiser insists that I post his ad promoting Palestinian claims (or Trump, or Harris, or pick your controversial issue), which I personally find objectionable—do I have to display his requested ad? (3) After confirming my proposed location was conforming under the City’s Code, I applied for a permit, but was denied because the City then passed an amendment to it’s Code prohibiting my proposed sign—what do I do? Attend the session to get the answers, and to ask some more questions as well.

Not to be outdone by the clever title, Chris and John Weller of Billboard Insider are presenting Thursday afternoon in a panel discussion called “Know When to Hold ‘Em and When to Fold ‘EM.” Chris isn’t much of a poker player, but he is a great litigator, and every one of them knows when to go to court to achieve your client’s goals, as opposed to settling his case. There’s other applications for the out of home industry to this old Texas cliché, so make sure you attend their presentation for these insights.

See you in Ft. Worth!
