Robert Moore’s Local Approach to Out of Home Sales

Robert Moore, Owner, Riley Outdoor

Robert Moore has built almost 500 billboards in the course of a 30 year career.  He recently sold Riley Outdoor to Adams Outdoor.  Moore has written about his less is more development strategy and why digital billboards are the future. Today he talks about how he sells out of home.

What’s your approach to sales?

Relatively simple, relatively old school.  We like statics.  We like directional sales.  We think that works – McDonald’s 5 miles ahead on right.   We think they’re a great customer. Bojangles,  McDonald’s.   The fast food folks and the sit down restaurant types.  We’ve brought in a lot of service related businesses.  We do a lot of medical and dental business.

Signbird is a great assist

We were one of the first folks to sign up with a with John James at SignBird to get those marketing materials.   They’ve been a huge help. Signbird built and developed a website for us back in I guess 2019 or 2020 whenever John James started.  It’s really helped us.

Sales drives everything

I tell my sales guy all the time this is a sales driven organization.  Sales drives everything. Without sales we don’t need bill posters or installers.  We don’t need electricians or anything like that.  We have to sell first.
