Daily Herald reports that 20 Lombard, IL residents have protested Lamar’s plan to put up two digital billboards. The Lombard trustees will vote on the issue on November 2. Lamar will pay the city $75,000/year for 20 years to be put toward capital expenses at the city’s wastewater treatment plant if the plan is approved. The town’s aging wastewater plant has generated odor complaints from nearby residents.
Insider’s take: Which would you rather have? A aging wastewater plant which stinks or new taxes or a billboard which can promote the health of local businesses.
