A followup comment on Are You a Billboard Nerd? Huntington Outdoor CEO Justin Powell was recently in Peru and says this.
No matter where I travel I’m always taking billboard pictures:) I was in Peru a couple weeks ago for a mission trip. I noticed two things…
1. The billboards are over the road…setback!!!! What’s that?
2. I’m amazed (in other countries) what a large percent of billboard advertising is political.

I do the same thing!! I went Haiti on a mission trip a few years back and they do the same thing; billboards hanging over the road way. I’ve actually seen this in New York as well with a billboard on a Railroad overpass. They are unicorns in the states but a lot of countries allow it. I’ve turned countless people into billboard nerds as well. They always tell me that ever since they got to know me they are looking at billboards all the time!! I always tell them that they have been doing it for a long time, they just didn’t know it!
