Rate This Ad allows a billboard designer to rate a random billboard ad using the following scale: 1 (not good), 2 (below average), 3 (average), 4 (very good), 5 (great). Then the designer talks about what they may have done differently for outdoor advertising. This week’s rating is provided by Wes Frick of Billboard Design.com.
Halo
Rating: 5/5 (Excellent)
- I give this billboard creative a 5/5 for creative excellence.
- The screen actually changes as the season went on, and the overall concept was very eye catching.

“This collaboration with Paramount+, Horizon Media and Midnight Oil demonstrated the ability to push the boundaries with traditional out of home to help launch Halo season 2. For this execution we transformed an otherwise static board into a digital activation with screens encased in the classic Halo helmet. The full motion content on the digital screen changed throughout the flight to align with the storyline of the new season. This board was installed in two locations in Los Angeles.” Bill Rosenthal brosenthal@moagency.com”

I would give this a 5+ for cool factor, but the copy on the left side is difficult to read with the light background, especially the smaller text. The background on the left side needs more contrast to make that copy legible. Overall I would give this a 4.5 or 4.75.
