Rate This Ad allows a billboard designer to rate a random billboard ad using the following scale: 1 (not good), 2 (below average), 3 (average), 4 (very good), 5 (great). Then the designer talks about what they may have done differently for outdoor advertising. This week’s rating is provided by Wes Frick of BillboardDesign.com  Billboard Insider uses and endorses Frick’s services.

 

The Barbie Movie

Rating: 5 (great)

  • This billboard is a promotion for the Barbie Movie coming out July 21st, it is very minimal, and it actually is an amazing promotion for them to stir up some curiosity. The billboard speaks for itself while having the user think about the message.
  • The July 21st in the Barbie-style font is genius because it gives as much of a hint as possible about the movie.
  • Vibrant pink color pretty much stands out everywhere
  • It reminds people of the only thing they really need to remember, which is July 21.
  • It’s great branding for Barbie because they only need to portray the color pink to be remembered
