Rate this Ad by Greg Callaham

Rate This Ad allows a billboard designer to rate a random piece of billboard artwork using the following scale: 1 (not good), 2 (below average), 3 (average), 4 (very good), 5 (great). Then the designer talks about what they may have done differently for outdoor advertising. This week’s rating is provided by Greg Callaham www.gregcallaham.com) who has over 30 years of experience in outdoor advertising design. Billboard Insider uses and endorses Callaham’s services.  Today Greg rates a set of bench ads for the OKC Zoo.

  • The ads pictured here are excellent examples of effective, impactful out of home advertising.
  • They appear to be part of an awareness and/or branding campaign, so the content is simple and concise.
  • The cute critter picture is the attention-getting device to draw the eye of the target audience.
  • Style is consistent with the colors and large logo placement unchanged from ad to ad.
  • Nice work by a designer who knows what they are doing! These ads earn a 5 (great).

  1. I really like the layout and idea, but the pictures of the animals are hard to figure out because of the dark background. A little above average. TM.
