Black Hills Fox and KOTA TV report that the Rapid City Legal and Finance Committee has approved a payment of $100,000 to Lamar to settle a five year legal battle. Other provisions of the settlement include:
- A repeal of the ban on digital LED billboards.
- An amendment to spacing provisions to reduce the linear distance between off-premises signs from 2,000 to 1,500 feet.
- A provision to preserve sign credits which were issued before 2011.
The settlement will be voted on by the city council in two weeks. The city still has an unresolved lawsuit with Epic Advertising.
