Philly Considering Billboards on Public Buildings

philly-sealPhilly.com reports that the Philadelphia Art Commission will have a hearing Wednesday to consider proposals for advertising signs on the Municipal Services Building at 1401 John F. Kennedy Blvd and the One Parkway Building at 1515 Arch St.

Billboards have been permitted on city property since 2013.  Interstate Outdoor has proposed to pay the city up to $500,000/year for the right to put up the billboards.

Insider’s take: Expect to see more of this as cash strapped municipalities look to raise money by leveraging city properties.
