People are Driving More and Taking More Transit Trips

Good news for roadside and transit billboard plants.  People are driving more miles and taking more transit trips.

More Road Miles Travelled

Here are the results of the FHWA Traffic Volume Trends report for April 2025.

Travel on all roads and streets increased by 1.5% for April 2025 as compared with April 2024. Traffic growth was highest in the south Atlantic and lowest in the northeast.  Here’s the regional map.

Cumulative car travel for the first four months of 2025 increased by 0.8%.

Transit ridership up.

United States transit trips increased 5.9% in the first quarter of 2025 according to a Public Transit Ridership Report First Quarter 2025 prepared by the American Public Transportation Association.  Heavy rail trips grew 11.4%. Commuter rail grew 7.9%. Light rail grew 6.4%. Bus trips grew 2.2%.   Nice to see transit finally rebounding from COVID.
