OUTFRONT media has proposed to replace two static billboards with a digital billboard on the site of a closed gas station AT 187 Riverside Avenue on Route 35 just past Coopers Bridge in Red Bank, New Jersey. Read articles by Tap into Redbank and Red Bank Green. The project received a zoning board hearing on Feb 6 and was continued to April. The single sided digital would measure 12′ by 40′ (453 square feet)and replace a roof mounted static billboard totaling 288 square feet and a ground mounted billboard with 480 square feet. The digital will have 8 second flips. OUTFRONT needs planning board approval because new billboards are not permitted in Red Bank.
Billboard Insider’s take: A nice deal for the city. Two static billboards come down in exchange for one new digital. The digital can be used for Amber alerts, police notices, weather warnings and municipal advertising. Red Bank businesses get a more flexible way to reach consumers. OUTFRONT gets nice ad inventory at an intersection where traffic backs up and consumers can see the sign.
