Outdoorlink Appoints Tasha Mayes Head of Sales

Tasha Mayes, Sales Manager, Outdoorlink

Tasha Mayes has been appointed sales manager at Outdoorlink. Billboard Insider interviewed her about her new role and what’s new at the company.

Tell us about your new position as Sale Manager.

When Outdoorlink and I found each other last year, they were primarily looking for somebody to manage their marketing needs. I had almost 10 years of out-of-home experience and, having moved to North Alabama a few years prior, never thought I’d find a company in my own backyard where industry experience could be relevant.  I was excited to find an opportunity where it was not only relevant, but useful! Throughout the last year, the company has shifted and grown at an incredible rate.  DJ Jennings, Chief Revenue Officer at the time, was the one who managed the sales teams previously.  When he shifted into the CEO position in January, I started stepping in to help take the sales tasks off his plate and allow him to focus more and more on his new role. Because of my industry experience on the agency side of things, I bring a fresh perspective that aligns perfectly with DJ’s goal to diversify Outdoorlink’s offerings. I was honored when he made the position of Sales Manager official and I’m excited by the challenges and growth I see in our near future.

Where do you see growth potential for Outdoorlink?

I know this is going to sound cheesy, but where don’t I see the growth potential for Outdoorlink? In the short time I have been on board, Outdoorlink has completed two major acquisitions, SignBird, who offers premium photography, videography, and marketing services, and most recently, Lighting Technologies, which manufactures LED lighting. We have also launched 4 new products and created a new division targeting verticals outside of OOH.

Outdoorlink has primarily been known for their SmartLink devices. Most billboard operators know they’re able to provide an easy operational control and fail-safe for their digital screens and save on overhead by using them as a remote monitoring, scheduling and control option for their static units.  This is even what I knew them as, having used the SmartLink devices in previous positions. But the company is much more than that and continues to expand at a very fast rate. With our lighting and install services, place-based digital monitoring solutions, SignBird bundle options, and up and coming cameras, the growth is exponential.  I think one of the best things I’ve seen coming on board with Outdoorlink is their ability and eagerness for development.  With amazing engineers on staff, development of technology and solutions happen continuously. It’s been a very exciting time at Outdoorlink.

How is DJ’s role changing?

The team was very excited to see him take the reins as CEO at the beginning of this year. It has been an evolutionary process for him to make the move.  Being a family business, DJ has worked his way up to truly understand all aspects of the company over the years. He has large goals for the company’s growth and is able to focus more and more on that growth in this new role.  Developing relationships, creating strategic partnerships, and focusing on the company’s wellbeing as a big picture is his ultimate focus right now and me taking some of the day-to-day sales responsibilities off of his plate will help free him up to do just that.

Who should people contact if they want to learn more about how Outdoorlink can help them minimize their lighting and maintenance costs?

I’m able to help answer any questions on Outdoorlink’s offerings! Billboards, digital place-based monitoring, installation crews, whatever you may need! Tasha Mayes, 256.200.4748
