How did you get into the out of home business?
I always knew I wouldn’t be happy unless I was making something. I worked for a machine tool builder after getting my engineering degree from Purdue. One of the companies I worked for after that wanted to sell its sign manufacturing business in 1994 so I bought it and changed the name to ProFab.
What trends are you seeing in new structures
Almost all the new structures we design and build are digital ready. They are built to accept digital units in the future, if not when built. some of the digital units are taller than they are wide, i.e. 30′ tall x 20′ wide.
What sort of wind loads are clients building to?
The minimal wind load is 105 mph these days, with the coastal areas going all the way up to 175 mph in southern Florida
What’s an interesting or challenging build you’ve done?
We built this structure to look like an oil derrick that was placed into an oil storage field….
We also built two structures to look like navigational buoys. They were placed in a port city on Lake Huron….
The “ normal” size billboards we “dress up” with pole covers, curved end caps, & etc…
