OOH Proof Point: Holiday Travel to Break Records

By air or car, the stats point to increased mobility.

The auto club (AAA) predicts record-breaking year-end travel (December 23 through January 1):

  • Auto travel will rise for the seventh consecutive year-end season. Rising gas prices, says AAA, won’t have much impact
  • Air travel will be up 4.1 percent
  • Overall, 107 million Americans are expected to travel during the holiday period

Experts credit these factors:  economic growth, consumer spending, and consumer confidence.

Meanwhile, travel on all roads was up 1.2 percent in October 2017 compared to the previous October, according to the Federal Highway Administration (FHWA).  That increase equates to 3.3 billion more vehicle miles.
