ATLANTA (December 16, 2019) – The Dilweg Companies along with their partner BIG Outdoor recently unveiled the installation of the long-awaited spectacular signage package at 101 Marietta Street in Downtown Atlanta, marking a significant milestone for the recently established Atlanta Arts & Entertainment District (AAED) that will help energize and boost foot traffic in the city’s central commercial corridor. The new comprehensive signage package is part of a broader initiative that aims to merge digital media, public art and non-traditional advertising to fund cultural and public space programming in Atlanta’s city center.
The multi-part signage installation at 101 Marietta includes a cutting-edge digital display along with large format, street level static signage wrapping Marietta and Cone Streets. The corner digital display that anchors the project at the corner of Marietta Street and Ted Turner Drive (1,050 square feet) features high-definition LED technology to enhance the overall viewing experience and will deliver a rotating set of commercial and non-commercial messaging. The sign is expected to feature several leading national and local brands who are investing in the district, including Atlanta-based Coca-Cola as one of the initial launch partners on the display.
Static ad displays will wrap the intersection of Marietta St. and Cone St. These displays offer brands the opportunity to speak with both pedestrian and vehicular traffic on this bustling corner. Another major component to the signage package is a recently completed mural designed in collaboration with Buckhead Murals represents the third element, a colorful, geometric piece inspired by Atlanta and designed by ASD/SKY. The mural was donated by The Dilweg Companies and BIG Outdoor to support the AAED’s goal to promote and create an artful vibrant district in downtown.
With close proximity to popular destinations such as Centennial Olympic Park, State Farm Arena and Mercedes-Benz Stadium, 101 Marietta Street was the first site permitted for approval in AAED and is uniquely positioned to host this innovative initiative. The proposed redevelopment of Centennial Yards will further solidify the district’s standing as a top entertainment arena.
“We are embarking on an exciting new chapter that delivers renewed energy and activation for Downtown Atlanta. The debut of our new digital signage system is a landmark moment that everyone can celebrate,” said Jerry Banks, managing director of The Dilweg Companies. “101 Marietta Street is proud to help pioneer this initiative, and we look forward to activating the building and contributing to AAED with unique signage that engages the public and fosters further development. BIG Outdoor was a natural fit for us given their proven track record on similar major projects across the country, and we are already seeing interest from a variety of organizations that understand the value of prime messaging real estate.”
With extensive experience in all OOH advertising formats, BIG Outdoor designs and utilizes advertising assets that complement the aesthetics of each individual location. The company has established itself as a major force in the outdoor advertising industry, and maintains key relationships with both advertising agencies and Fortune 500 companies across a broad range of categories.
“BIG Outdoor is thrilled to make our entry into the Atlanta market with this dynamic signage package at 101 Marietta,” said Bill Tagliaferri, Executive Vice President of National Real Estate at BIG Outdoor. “We’re pleased to partner with The Dilweg Companies and support the AAED’s goals of creating a new and dynamic neighborhood experience that will appeal to a wide variety of audiences and provide the ideal platform for commercial, public and artistic content. All the ingredients for success are in place, and we believe this area will become a new hub for businesses and storytellers who seek to better connect with their audiences in the new digital era.”
Spearheaded by Central Atlanta Progress (CAP), AAED is a neighborhood activation and economic development project for Downtown Atlanta that fuses new outdoor media, local art, and advertising, and funds cultural and public space programming in the city’s core. By creating light, vitality, and activity, AAED authentically reflects the vibrancy of Atlanta as a whole.
The District is managed by the Atlanta Downtown Improvement District (ADID) and self-funds its management and programming through revenue sharing agreements with media companies within the District. As the physical and symbolic center of the city and the region, AAED will support commercial investment, enhance public spaces, elevate the aesthetic experience of Downtown, and stimulate economic, marketing, cultural arts, and tourism efforts across Atlanta.
