More Miles Driven; Fewer Fatalities

Good news for the first half of 2019:  vehicle miles driven was up while fatalities declined.

  • Traffic fatalities declined 3.4 percent in the first six months of this year compared to the same period in 2018
  • Vehicle miles driven increased .8 percent

These half-year estimates come from the Federal Highway Administration and the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration, units within US-DOT.
