MH Outdoor Media, LLC is a member of the Mac Haik family of companies, founded in July 2011 in Houston, Texas. Marshall Henderson is the COO for MH Outdoor and Insider caught up with him to have a conversation about his background, the company and the future.
Marshall, tell us about your background, how you got into the OOH industry and to MH Outdoor as the COO?
I have had the benefit of working in most every aspect of the industry having started out as a billposter and being part of the construction crew. Since then, I spent many years in sales and sales management as well as leasing. It has also been a privilege to work as an owner and in management in capacities from Market Manager to President. My current role as COO of MH Outdoor has brought me back to my home town of Houston Texas and provided the opportunity to work with a fantastic team that make up of not just MH Outdoor, but also the extended affiliation with Mac Haik Enterprises.
Can you provide us with an update on your billboard inventory? How many faces does MH have? Of those, how many are digital?
MH Outdoor Media currently owns and operates 1,142 faces in Texas, Louisiana, Alabama, Florida, Tennessee and Georgia. Of those faces 56 are digital.
What is new on your digital growth? Are you having success in converting static locations to digital?
We have had success converting several static locations to digital over the last few years and continue to seek those opportunities where it is possible and prudent. Our latest digital addition was an acquisition in the San Antonio area.
Any thoughts on what you expect for the industry looking ahead for 2024 and 2025?
There is reason to be optimistic looking ahead as the industry continues to find ways to expand into new growth markets despite the challenges. Technology has also been instrumental in helping to extend greater creativity and flexibility to advertisers as well as improved capabilities in audience measurement. All the while, the key element remains the same. We remain successful because of the intrinsic value of OOH. Every other medium has to find a way to draw an audience. OOH is where the people are and provides the consistent opportunity to see the ad for your client across all demographics and interests.
