Toronto, ON – Media Resources Inc. (MRI), a leader in the outdoor & indoor digital signage industry, announces the opening of a new digital manufacturing plant located near Charlotte in Fort Mill, SC.
The Fort Mill facility (previously used as a warehouse for its non-digital billboard hardware division which Media Resources recently sold to Camel City Printing) is being converted into a manufacturing facility dedicated to the production of MRI’s VISIONiQ Digital Billboards for their customers in the United States. The first 14’x48’ digital billboard was manufactured last week and production will slowly ramp up during Q1/Q2 2024 to ensure the new facility meets the same industry leading quality that Media Resources produces in it other North American facilities.
Upon reaching its full operational capacity, the Fort Mill facility will specialize in producing all standard size digital billboards for customers, particularly those located in the mid-Atlantic and Southeastern USA regions. This strategic location will enable Media Resources to significantly reduce lead-times and lower freight costs for billboard operators across America. Moreover, leveraging Media Resources’ comprehensive in-house installation capabilities will further enhance the value proposition, offering customers a seamless, quality-assured, turnkey solution that encompasses manufacturing, logistics, and installation services, all managed by Media Resources dedicated team in Fort Mill.
Key highlights of this landmark expansion include:
- Strategic Location for Eastern USA Customers: The Fort Mill facility will serve as a hub for the assembly of standard VISIONiQ and SITELINETM digital billboards marking a significant expansion to MRI’s manufacturing footprint in North America.
- Integrated Production Line: LED Display Modules for the digital billboards will continue to be manufactured in MRI’s state-of-the-art automated module production facility in Toronto, Canada, ensuring a seamless supply chain and the highest standards of quality. In the Fort Mill facility, the modules will be assembled with all other components to make a complete digital billboard.
- Full Turnkey Solutions: Alongside manufacturing, MRI will offer shipping and installation services. At full scale this facility will provide its billboard customers with a trusted end-to-end solution that encompasses digital signage production, logistics, and installation.
- Future Expansion Plans: Looking to the future and accessibility for customers, Media Resources intends to replicate this success by establishing an additional facility on the West Coast of North America, that will provide similar benefits to its Central and West Coast customers.
Jeff Rushton, President & CEO of Media Resources Inc., highlights the strategic importance of this expansion: “The establishment of this new digital manufacturing plant in Fort Mill will significantly enhance our production capabilities and provide added value and flexibility to our customers with manufacturing, shipping, and installation services from this centralized location. We have used this model successfully for many years in other parts of North America and believe this will be a game-changer in how we deliver value and support to the Out of Home industry in America. We could not be prouder of the incredible Media Resources team who made the rapid conversion happen. I personally look forward to hosting customers at the facility in Q2/2024 when we are fully operational.”
