McWhorter Media Group Moves Into South Carolina

Billboard Insider reached out to Deanna Berry on the news that they had acquired assets from Van Kirk Outdoor in South Carolina.  Here is both our conversation with Deanna along with some additional details from their press release.

Deanna Berry, Chief Operating Officer, McWhorter Media Group

Deanna I had not seen that you had purchased anything yet in South Carolina?

As of this moment, these are the only three billboards we own in South Carolina.  The three structures in the city of Aiken, each feature two static faces on both sides, resulting in a total of 12 advertising spaces. Marty Williamson, representing Williamson & Associates, brokered the deal to bring both parties together, while John T. Mroczko, PC of Cartersville, GA, served as the closing attorney for this successful acquisition.

It has been a pleasure working with Marty’s team and Mr. Story. Though a small acquisition, the onboarding process always has its challenges, but the seller’s assistance in providing essential information greatly contributed to a seamless transition. We are excited to welcome these prime billboard locations to our portfolio.”

Will any of the Van Kirk personnel be staying on?

No one from Van Kirk will be staying on. We had a prior relationship with Matthew Story, so that is how these specific assets were on our
radar.

Do you have your eye on anything else in that area?

It is not our intention to own just three billboards in the state. We have a long-term growth plan, and we’ll be actively exploring potential opportunities in the area.

Josh McWhorter, CEO, McWhorter Media Group

And a comment from Josh McWhorter, CEO of McWhorter Media Group:

“We are thrilled to have secured these exceptional billboard structures on I-20 in Aiken,” said Josh McWhorter, CEO of McWhorter Media Group. “This acquisition aligns perfectly with our growth strategy and further solidifies our position in the outdoor advertising industry. South Carolina is a vibrant and promising market, and we are excited to establish our presence here. We are committed to offering our clients powerful advertising solutions that deliver results, and these billboards in Aiken will play a pivotal role in achieving that goal.”

McWhorter Media Group already boasts billboard assets in three states – Pennsylvania, Virginia, and now South Carolina. Their impressive inventory comprises 29 structures with a total of 76 faces, including nine digital displays, 59 static billboards, and eight trivision billboards, providing advertisers with more than 150 ad spaces to effectively reach their target audience.
