Mashburn Outdoor announced yesterday that they acquired both static and digital billboard assets from Unistar Outdoor covering the Spartanburg, South Carolina metro assets. Billboard Insider tracked down Richard Mashburn (he was at the Mets vs Braves game) for a few questions about the acquisition.
Congratulations Richard on the acquisition. How many faces were acquired? How many of the faces were digital?
We acquired 17 total faces with (8) of the faces being digital.
Does this expand or create a new footprint for you in South Carolina?
It is a new footprint.
We have been trying to enter the Greenville-Spartanburg market for the last few years as GSP is ranked as the #35 largest media market and the metro area has exploded in population and economic growth.
We would love to build and acquire additional assets in the market.
Did you work with a broker to connect with Unistar or deal with them directly?
We were introduced to out of home veteran Randy English (owner) of The Unistar assets by a mutual friend and both parties worked direct to finalize and close this deal.
