Lamar Converting Vinyl to Personal Protective Equipment

Baton Rouge, LA – April 16, 2020 – Lamar Advertising Company (Nasdaq: LAMR) today announced that the company is supplying vinyl billboard material for conversion into personal protective equipment (PPE) for immediate use by healthcare workers caring for COVID-19 patients at medical facilities across Louisiana.

Lamar has joined forces with Louisiana State University, which has established a large-scale production facility at the Pete Maravich Assembly Center (PMAC) on the Baton Rouge Campus. The Out of Home advertising company’s billboard material is being converted on-site into heavy-duty, reusable gowns.

“In this time of crisis, our fellow citizens have come together to address the urgent need for PPE in an incredibly innovative way,” said Sean Reilly, CEO of Lamar Advertising Company. “We are so proud to be part of this effort and to have teamed up with LSU and other members of the community as we collectively battle the COVID-19 pandemic.”

Lamar initially donated recycled billboards to Wayne Newhauser, Director of LSU’s Medical Physics Program, who then converted them into the first batch of gowns in his garage. With the project having grown in size, Lamar is now also supplying new billboard vinyl to ensure continued production. Presently, 40 workers are producing approximately 1,000 gowns per day at the PMAC.
