On how the agency people who buy outdoor are different today: “The digital world has taught people that you need to be able to buy media at 2am in your pajamas. You shouldn’t have to wait for a phone call to get rates or to see where locations might be. Today’s buyers in most agencies are millennials. They are at work at 2am, they are at work at 10pm on a Friday night. They need access to information…”
On the bright future of the out of home business: “Out of home right now is going through a renaissance…it’s right in line with consumer trends. People are spending more time out of home. The OAAA actually has done some research. They found that out of home is three times more efficient than TV, radio and print.”
On where the industry will be in two years:” The automation will increase and close the gap on programmatic. I think it’s up to the industry operators as well as the demand side players to see how fast that moves. There are lots of concerns around losing control of inventory and pricing…I don’t think it’s as much of a technology challenge as it is change…”
