If you have not yet met Kelly Mattson, Sales Manager for Oliver Outdoor, you are missing a real treat. Kelly has a delightful sense of humor. Kelly also loves making videos as a part of her marketing strategy. You can see those postings on her LinkedIn or the Company’s Facebook account.
I had a chance to talk with Kelly at the IBO conference and she was kind enough to share her thoughts on videos and why they work as a part of the Oliver Outdoor marketing strategy.
Can you provide us with a little background on why you decided to start with your videos?
This all came about during a sales meeting. We decided to make a push to increase our social media presence so I did a bit of research to see what other outdoor companies and agencies were doing and reviewed the posts that had the most followers and/or comments. Videos won hands down. Honestly we found that there aren’t many in our field that do this kind of thing. We found that during a time when you can find a video about anything or nothing …..there isn’t much out there about advertising and nothing on outdoor advertising. So we decided to give it a try and it has been a huge success. So far we have tripled our followers and continue to grow. I get stopped or comments from clients,
From a marketing perspective, what are your objectives with the videos?
If you check out our FB or Linkedin pages you will see that we have a wide range of styles and types of videos. Some we talk about a location or a client. Some we talk about new things coming to Oliver Outdoor and others we use as a teaching platform so that our clients will be informed consumers. For the most part we are trying to put a face and personality with the company name. As all of us in advertising know it is easier to identify with and relate to an individual and not just a nameless, faceless corporation. We try to engage and entertain at the same time.
What social media sites do you use to post your videos?
So far we are just on LinkedIn and FB. We have discussed tiktok but haven’t tried it yet.
Any sense of how helpful the videos are to your sales teams efforts?
The videos have definitely worked. As I earlier, we have definitely grown our social media presence with the videos. We have received a lot of positive feed back and created a bit of a BUZZ.
