How to tell if your out of home email has been hacked.

Insider is paranoid about hacking because he was the victim of a hack attack in March 2016.   There’s a simple way to find out if your out of home email or out of home company website has been compromised via a data breach.  Visit the have I been pwned website, type in your email and you can see if your personal or company data has been compromised.  Have I been pwned shows that Insider’s old and no longer used comcast email address was subject to four data breaches due to data thefts at Adobe, Dropbox, Linkedin and River City Media.

If your data has been subject to a breach it makes sense to change passwords and to install two-part verification to keep a hacker from accessing your email or other sensitive accounts.  For example if you turn on two part verification on your gmail account you need to enter your password and a text code which is sent to your phone whenever you want to login to gmail or change gmail account details.  This means that a hacker will be unable to change your accounts unless they’ve stolen your phone as well as your name and password.  Insider’s email accounts and financial accounts all use two-part verification.
