Geopath on Coronavirus

Dear Colleagues and Friends,

We are all experiencing uncertain times amidst monumental challenges for our families, our communities, and our businesses.

Americans are heeding the urgent warnings of public officials and staying home, and as a result, restaurants have closed, stores have shuttered, small businesses are struggling, and companies big and small are moving to virtual operating models. Your inbox is probably stuffed right now with messages from business partners saying they are ‘closely monitoring’ the situation. In such times, it is hard to know what else to do?

At Geopath, we are in a similar position. We have cancelled our annual OOH Media Conference in Phoenix. Our staff is adjusting to working from home, and in many cases, also home schooling our children. We are coping like all of you are and doing our best to work through this unsettling situation.

It is an understatement to say that industries around the world and businesses around the corner are feeling tremendous impact. The out-of-home industry is no exception. Geopath is actively analyzing population movement patterns in markets across the nation. The disruption of people’s day-to-day movement is not occurring consistently nor simultaneously, and the full impact of this unprecedented and ongoing crisis is not yet known. Geopath is committed to understanding the changes in population movement as they continue to evolve.

If anything positive can come from these trends, it is that American citizens are heeding the warning and taking this health crisis seriously. These actions will result in meaningful, positive impacts to community safety and human life.

I am incredibly proud, even uplifted, by the response our industry has taken to this crisis. Across America, the OOH industry is donating assets and inventory to the CDC and other state and local governments to keep the public informed and to remind them of the vital role each citizen plays in containing the spread of the virus.

As Americans and as an industry, we are resilient. This shall pass. And when it does, American business, and the OOH advertising industry, will come back stronger than ever. Consumers will once more venture out and about, and when they do, they will truly value being out of home like never before.

When that happens, and it will, Geopath will be ready. Please continue to stay safe, stay home, and remember that we are all in this together.

Sincerely,
Kym Frank
President, Geopath
