Secure digital screens. Secure digital screens. Secure digital screens. Vice reports that a video game player plugged in his PlayStation 4 directly to an airport monitor at the Portland Airport in order to play Apex Legends before boarding a flight. Could have been worse if he’d chosen to show something else.
Insider’s take: Digital screen security begins with locking access to the screen. The 2019 Digital Out of Home Primer says this about physically securing screens and digital billboards: “Lockdown and enclose each component. A lock is only a deterrent. Assume that it will be bypassed. Cases should have no external screws; cables should all be routed internally. Expose only what you must (antennae, touch screens, etc.) Develop automatic fallbacks if any item is compromised. A disabled system is better than a compromised system.”
