The Destin Log reports that Splashboard Media has mounted a 20′ by 30′ two sided LED electronic sign on the back of a boat and is driving along the Florida coast. Owner Chris Kopecky plans to operate the board along the shoreline from Destin to Okaloosa Island, Pensacola and Panama city.
Insider’s take: A New Jersey company is trying the same thing (see picture). Seems like a sketchy business. A huge upfront investment in a digital sign which operates only a few hours with lots of regulatory risk. A floating billboard in Vancouver, Canada was regulated out of business by a sign code change.
