Firefly and RapportWW Execute OOH Campaign for Ghostbusters Afterlife

New York, NY; Los Angeles, CA – Halloween weekend of this year, spectators, pedestrians and audiences at popular hot spots in New York City and Los Angeles were treated to sightings of the Ecto-1, iconic car from the Ghostbusters, in an epic digital-out-of-home campaign on wheels from Firefly, RapportWW, and Sony Pictures.

The Ecto-1 was paired with more modern versions of the famous car – a swarm of vehicles wrapped to look like the Ecto-1 and outfitted with Firefly’s digital screens. Additionally, cars carried hologram projectors on top, which displayed an animation of ghosts from the films being “caught” by the fictional proton pack projected below. Costumed Ghostbusters were on hand at each stop, taking photos with fans and engaging with people on the street.

In addition to impressions generated at the street level, over 56 million social media impressions and 50,000 social media engagements were generated during a three-day activation as excited fans took photos and videos and shared them with their friends online.

A highly-anticipated film, Ghostbusters: Afterlife dominated the box office opening weekend and continues to be a top-performer week after week.

Firefly’s holograms spin at a rapid 30 frames per second to create the most realistic 3D hologram experience in the market today. The projector was custom-fitted in Firefly’s proprietary digital displays so that the 3D animation appeared to be floating above the vehicle.
