FBI Says Billboards Help Nab Ohio Suspect

Screen Shot 2016-07-13 at 4.16.58 PMSusan McKee, Unit Chief, FBI Office of Public Affairs, says 54 fugitives have been caught as a direct result of tips prompted by “wanted” information on digital billboards.

Here is the latest example, from Ohio:

  • May 19. Suspected heroin dealer Mekahale Lamb escaped a transport vehicle in Cincinnati.  Law enforcement activated pro bono digital billboards as part of the manhunt.
  • June 17.  The fugitive was arrested in Columbus.
  • July 13. The FBI says that during the fugitive investigation, tip information was provided to the FBI by someone who specifically mentioned seeing Lamb’s image on the billboards. This information was helpful in locating Lamb in Columbus, OH, without incident on June 17, 2016.

Insider’s take: Don’t be shy about pointing out this public safety feature of digital billboards when you are in front of regulators, politicians and the press.
