Fall River Plans 8 digital billboards on city property

The Herald News reports that Fall River, Massachusetts expects to earn $8-10 million upfront and rental fees of $650,000/year for 20 years in exchange for permitting Boston based out of home company Capital Associates to put digital signs on 8 sites owned by the city.

Mayor Jasiel Correia’s comment says it all: “That’s really outstanding. … Put that into perspective, that’s a lot of money as well to add to our general fund to pay for new police officers, new firefighters and to exceed net school spending. That’s a lot of money,”

Insider’s take:  Win, win, win, win.  Fall City gets critical budget funds.  Fall City businesses get a change to tell their story.  Fall City Police and fire can use the boards for safety alerts.  Capital Associates gets a money making opportunity.
