We talked with General Manager Jason Mallory.
How did Lindmark get into the fabricating business?
Lindmark Billboards had always used The Sign Company, as the fabricator and installer of its billboards. With the 7th largest billboard company in the United States and a rapidly growing printing company “Lindmark Ink”, Trent Lindmark saw an opportunity to bring another piece of the billboard industry into the fold when the owner of The Sign Company, Woody Barnes began talking about retirement in late 2022. Lindmark Companies acquired The Sign Company and rebranded it as Lindmark Steel in August of 2023. Now, with all three major components of the industry under one roof, Lindmark Companies United States has the unique position as a complete turnkey operator from fabrication and printing to advertising.
What trends are you seeing in new structures?
In correlation with municipalities and states adopting the newer versions of the International Building Codes, today’s structures are just bigger and more robust with an emphasis on the latest safety features.
What sort of wind loads are clients building to?
Most of our most recent builds have been within 105 to 115 mph.
What’s an interesting or challenging build you’ve done (make sure you provide us with a few pictures)
Two of our more challenging projects in the past few years were for a client in Keller, TX, both with prime freeway/highway exposure.
As a stipulation for allowing the client to replace two older structures with a pair of modern digital units, they were required to have a full pole covers on both the new structures.
The pole covers were built in three 20 ft sections with real stone and mortar, with each section weighing in at around 6000 lbs.
The process took several cranes and ground men on a very tight location to ensure safety while we positioned the sections around the pole.
