Drone Light Show Turns to Chaos

A drone light show in China turned to chaos as fire and sparks rained from the sky onto onlookers gathered to watch the performance. The London Times reported the light show, which used hundreds of synchronized drones to create illuminated patterns in the sky, failed moments after the aircraft took off. Partial designs can be seen in the videos, where the edges of what look like intricate shapes and symbols are visibly falling from the sky and distorting the images.

Once control of the display was lost, the drones appeared to crash into each other in mid air before sparks fell on to onlookers. It has been suggested the fires were due to fireworks being attached to the drones, though this had not been confirmed.

Video showed people ducking behind chairs or sprinting for safety. Fortunately, officials confirmed no fatalities or serious injuries. Fires ignited by falling debris were quickly extinguished, though one blaze spread to a nearby forest.

Here is a video of the incident.
