Since 2019, the DPAA has made Broadway performances a Summit tradition (because yes, Broadway IS a major OOH client – those marquees don’t light themselves!). From The Temptations to Neil Diamond, from Hadestown to Back to the Future, the global digital OOH association has brought the best of the Great White Way to their stage to entertain the 1,000 media buyers, agency heads, brand CMOs, ad-tech and measurement companies, and press in attendance at Chelsea Piers.
Why Broadway? Performances like these are core to the DPAA’s philosophy that inspiration and education are intrinsically connected to entertainment. Live Broadway moments remind us that creativity is at the core of everything we do in media and marketing.
What’s more, the global OOH world has a deep history and connection with live theater. From Broadway to London’s West End, U.S. cities like Chicago, Los Angeles and Boston, to Paris, Berlin and Vienna, to Sydney and Melbourne — live theater and show-stopping musicals attract millions of consumers around the world. And to promote these performances, OOH has been an integral medium for theater, with larger than life advertising in Times Square, Picadilly Circus, Yonge-Dundas in Toronto and more.
Each year the Global DPAA Summit has live and actual Broadway performers on its stage to inspire and entertain delegates and DPAA members from every continent (except Antarctica) who attend the summit. Attendees get a Master Class in today’s marketing and advertising from celebrated CMOs and leading industry voices. (More information is at www.dpaasummit.com/global.)
“From Back to the Future, to the Neil Diamond Musical and the Blue Man Group and others, I’ve enjoyed spending time with these talented performers on our stage — and I’ve even danced with the Temptations,” said Barry Frey, President & CEO of DPAA. “Along with the members, speakers, press and other guests joining us in New York City, I can’t wait to see the cast of the award-winning MJ the Musical perform and add some excitement to the room on Tuesday.”
