Do It Outdoors Acquires Streetblimps

do it outdoors media has announced their acquisition of Streetblimps. As the leading mobile billboard provider in America, this acquisition reinforces their position as the largest national mobile billboard company.

do it outdoors media was started in 1997 by co-founders David Pridgen II and Regis Maher and quickly grew to become the largest national mobile billboard company. This transaction provides do it outdoors media with Streetblimps’ intellectual property and additional assets.  The transaction also continues to position do it outdoors as the leader in the mobile billboard space as the out-of-home industry continues to increase share and move into the future.

“Streetblimps has always been recognized as the other credible leader in our industry,” says Maher. “It is an honor to have the opportunity to expand our business through this acquisition and to leverage [Doug Frantin’s] industry knowledge to expand our unique OOH solutions with stenciling, street decals and projection media. This acquisition paints an even brighter future for non-traditional media and the mobile billboard media format.”

Pridgen adds, “The acquisition of Streetblimps, along with our continued investment in our business, solidifies our leadership position in the OOH Industry. We recently completed a $5MM investment in our mobile billboard fleet as well as the successful launch of shadowfencing. This allows us to dynamically change targeting parameters for mobile display advertising based on the moving location of the mobile billboard. We’re seeing an average between 35-40% higher click-through-rates with shadowfencing compared to geofencing alone.”

Founded in 1985 by Doug Frantin, who remained CEO through the time of acquisition, Streetblimps was a very well-known player in the non-traditional and out-of-home industry.

“Both Streetblimps and do it outdoors media have shared the same passion for driving an advertiser’s message exactly where it needs to go, leveraging the power and impact of mobile billboards,” says Frantin. “I am confident that do it outdoors will continue to serve the Streetblimps clients in the best manner. With do it outdoors driving them, those brands will continue to grow through use of effective media solutions.  do it outdoors runs a buttoned-up fleet and extremely professional organization.”

As Frantin heads onto his next adventure, do it outdoors will carry forward the mobile billboard industry he helped to build.
