Digiday Live: “All Direct to Consumer companies have to do subway ads.”

Julie Hansen, CEO-US, Babbel

Julie Hansen, CEO-US for Babbel (a language learning app), did a Digiday Live podcast  in which Hansen and the Digiday interviewer said nice things about subway advertising.  Good news for Outfront and its pending installation of 50,000 smartscreens in New York City.

Hansen: In New York all we do is marketing and we’re very channel driven.  So, it’s a direct to consumer company.  We’re not doing a lot of brand marketing.  We’re not on the NASDAQ billboard in New York although that would be fun.

Interviewer: You’re not doing subway ads?  All D to C companies have to do subway ads.  It’s a law.

Hansen: It’s a thought actually. We’ve never gone deep in a market.  We’ve thought about that.  I do love those shuttle train wraps.

Interviewer: Think how cool that would be.

Hansen: Actually Babbel on the subway is a really good call.  Cause you can use it in offline mode.

The transit ad comments appear just after the 8 minute mark on the Digiday Live podcast.
