Daktronics Revenue up 11% in 3Q Fiscal 2020

Daktronics, the digital billboard maker had increased sales and a net loss for the second quarter of fiscal 2020 (3 months ended February 1, 2020).  Here are the highlights from the earnings release and earnings call.

  • Net sales increased 11% to $128 million.
  • Expenses increased by 19% to $140 million due to project cost overruns and tariff related expenses.
  • The company’s net loss increased from $3.3 million in 3Q FY 2019 to $12.7 million in 3Q FY 2020 due to higher expenses.  The third quarter is typically the company’s weakest due to seasonality in sales and reduced production days due to holidays.
  • CEO Reece Kurtenbach said that the coronavirus could cause customer order delays and supply chain disruptions.
