• Daily Billboard’s Three of a Kind: Going Live

For this month’s Daily Billboard Blog ‘3 of a kind’ we’re shining a spotlight on billboards that have magically come to life to catch the eye of passersby by with a living spectacle that’s very PR friendly.
The first festive example is for the 2011 computer-animated movie Arthur Christmas, which had this interactive toy donation drive for children along the sunny Sunset Strip mid-November. Not only did the raised platform feature a human version of Arthur waving merrily at passing cars and pedestrians, but there were also elves on hand on the billboard and at street level for maximum impact (even with the Southern Californian sun blazing).
The second living billboard was also for an animated movie, this time the Rio sequel from 2014. In addition to all the standard billboards around town for the film, on March 18, 2014, this billboard along the westbound Sunset Strip sprung to life with Mardi Gras carnival dancers and performers to entertain passersby on their daily commute to draw attention to the new movie.
And the third example was also spied along West Hollywood’s busy Sunset Strip in January 2016 for Fox’s live television event of the musical Grease. This billboard not only featured T-Birds and Pink Ladies dancing above the street, but it had the extra interest of familiar songs from the iconic musical playing as cars drove by.
If you like this trio of ‘living’ billboards you can also check out one more example for the Blu-Ray release of Pain & Gain which saw an outdoor gym billboard   spring up along the Sunset Strip in August 2013.
Have a wonderful festive season and come back in the New Year when we’ll have three billboards that hit the bullseye, quite literally.
