Many of you have heard that Conner Poe, President of the Outdoor Advertising Association of Georgia, is stepping down and has accepted a position with Norfolk Southern Railroad as their Resident Vice President of Government Affairs.  

Insider caught up with Conner to ask him a few questions about his time with OAAG and what is coming next for him.

Conner, how long was your tenure with the OAAG?

I started in August 2007.

Any accomplishment you are most proud of?

We’ve had a great 9 plus year run with OAAG. We’ve passed several pro-active measures focused on transit advertising, relocation of signs and the biggest was our 2011 overhaul of the highway vegetation program. 

But I think our biggest accomplishment is the way we’ve changed the image of the industry in a Georgia. Outdoor advertisers in our state are now seen as a community partner. We answer the call when law enforcement, GDOT and emergency management needs us. Our assists are a vital tool for these folks if and when a community emergency occurs. 

What attracted you to the new position with Norfolk Southern Railroad? 

Someone with my background and relationships is always looking for ways to grow. Opportunities have come and gone over my time with OAAG. I felt the timing was finally right to make a move to a corporate setting with long term viability at one of the countries most well respected Transportation Companies. I cherished my time with OAAG and the life long friends I will take from it. I would never have had the opportunity that I am moving into now without the support and backing of those in the Outdoor Advertising Industry. 

For those of you who have worked with Conner, you know the value he has brought to the OAAG.  The OAAG has become one of the premiere trade associations in the state of Georgia.  The OAAG has shown what strong leadership and an active Board of Directors can accomplish in the OOH industry on a state level.
