Wingert Billboards was founded by Fred Wingert in 2006. Wingert Billboards operates 51 structures and 146 faces on Interstates and US Highways across Eastern and Central Kansas. Wingert specializes in having premiere locations on highly traveled Interstates and in high growth areas. At Wingert we focus on family, faith, public policy, and driving revenue through value for our customers.
Fred, how did you enter the out-of-home advertising business?
I built my first 10’6 x 36’ steel monopole in 2006 on a major interstate outside of Kansas City. We have grown primarily by building new steel double stacked signs on major interstates in Eastern and Central Kansas. We have worked with multiple cities and counties to create more favorable win/win partnerships to build new locations on premiere Interstate locations in highly traveled and growing areas of Eastern and Central Kansas.
What are your growth plans:
Our strategic plan is to add 40 new faces in 2026 via new structure builds. We will complete some digital conversions if they make sense. We are in the preliminary stages building some new digital sites right now. The regulatory and approval process locally and with the state has been challenging. We will likely add a few signs this next year via buying signs from sign owners with a small number of signs in our footprint.
