Tom Jackson

Veale Outdoor Advertising operates in Sonoma County with a primary focus on the development of local advertising for Sonoma County based businesses. In September 2022, Tom & Leanna Jackson purchased the company from Kirk Veale, who founded the business in 1982. Tom was very familiar with Veale Outdoor, having spent 25 years as the company’s General Manager.

Tom, tell us how 2024 went for Veale Outdoor?

We had a very busy year with hiring new office manager/bookkeeper, fully integrating Billboard Planets Quantum operating software and the completion of the purchase of Veale Outdoor Advertising, LLC. From a sales standpoint we had a good year with growth of 20% over 2023. We attended the IBOUSA conference in Forth Worth in October and enjoyed networking with other independent billboard operators/owners and the informative presentations during the daily conference meetings. We continue to be members of the California Outdoor Advertising Association and have been active in lobbying the CA legislature in support of outdoor advertising legislation. What is your current inventory? How many digitals do you have?  

We have 22 faces. 18 static and 4 digital faces. We installed 2 new digital displays in our SF DMA location and are scheduled to replace the displays in our SAC DMA location.

Leanna Jackson

You purchased Veale a little over two years ago.  You were very familiar with the business after a long run as the company GM.  Are there any lessons you have learned in making the transition to ownership that you could share? 

I have worked in the outdoor industry since 1988 and was GM of Veale Outdoor Advertising for 25 years prior to purchasing the business with my wife Leanna Jackson. What I learned and became really apparent was the need to have a good team working with you. We spent a lot of time this year with Dan & Lisa Nausley on sales and leadership training, implementing new sales strategies, setting goals, and a commitment to our core values of providing great service to our customers.

Any key goals for the Company in 2025?

Yes, we have a few goals for 2025. Increase sales by creating new sales, renewals, and recapture, increase communication with our customers, post GREAT copy and permit a new digital location.
