Our Billboard Insider 2024 rankings has Lindmark Billboards ranked as the ninth largest billboard company in North America in terms of number of faces.  Over the years Lindmark has expanded into multiple divisions, all led by Trent Lindmark who has been in the business since 1993. Here are Trent’s thoughts on his organizational strategy and growth opportunities.

Trent Lindmark

You rebranded to The Lindmark Companies in 2023, recognizing that your footprint includes more than your billboard operations.  What companies are currently included in The Lindmark Company Group?

We have Ink which prints billboards/banners and Steel which fabricates and installs billboard structures.

Your strategy of adding companies to support your own billboard operations along with others in the OOH industry is a unique one. Can you talk a little about your reasoning for forming The Lindmark Group?

On the Ink side of the business, we couldn’t find a company that could meet our high standards and quality that we wanted, so we started the printing company about 12 years ago. We wanted fast turnaround time for the goal in mind of putting our customers ads up faster and get them into billing quicker.  We have a 24 hour turnaround policy at Ink. So we can place an order today and it will be shipped out tomorrow. All of our offices are a 1 day ship with fedex ground from our Norman, OK office. We have our own operations crew in house at each office as well so we can post immediately if needed and we can turn that contract into billing within 3 to 4 days. That adds up fast when compared to my peers that take 3 to 4 weeks to post. We lease a lot of faces for 3 years; in saying we have to use the best ink and vinyl on the market to ensure they will still look good for those 3 years. The steel company was just added last year to insure we could keep up with our plans to organically grow our company. Steel does both the installs and fabrication in house which is hard to find someone to do both under one roof.

Focusing in on Lindmark Billboards what is the current size of the Company?

We are in 6 states and currently have 6,700 faces.

Does your relationship of total displays to digital units create an opportunity for digital conversions as a path to increase revenue and profitability?

7% of our revenue comes from our digitals compared to the big 3 (which is 30% plus) we have a lot of opportunities to grow there.

You have always been very growth oriented.  What is your current sense of growing in an economy that is unpredictable?

We are only growing through organic sites today. Acquisitions are hard to pencil out with rates so high and the multiples have stayed strong.  I hope that will change soon so we can start buying again.
