Josh Plain, COO

Plainview Outdoor is a full service outdoor advertising company located in Chattanooga, TN.  The Company has over 140 years of combined experience serving the greater Chattanooga marketplace.   Todd Plain is the Founder and CEO and Josh Plain is the company COO.  We spoke with Josh Plain for an update on the business.

Josh, can you update us on the number of digital and static signs you operate now in Tennessee?
I’d be happy to. Plainview has continued to grow since the last time we spoke. We now operate over 600 billable faces across 5 markets. We have 371 of those faces in Tennessee, 224 in Georgia, and 44 in Alabama. And that number continues to change as we have several new locations coming by the end of 2024, as well as new digital conversions to some of our existing static signage.

You also were awarded a contract for digital and static bus shelters in Smyrna GA back in 2021.  Can you update us on that business and tell us how your digital locations are configured?
Yes, we were very excited to partner with the City of Smyrna on this project. With our extensive background and experience in the OOH industry, this just made sense as our next venture. We have installed 11 back-to-back digital units to date, with another 4 being installed by the end of this year and are in the process of revamping and replacing all bus shelters and ad panels to make this one of the premier transit markets in the country. All of the digital units were purchased from our sister company, Plainview LED, and are absolutely stunning. We are very pleased with the quality and durability of the units as well.

Are you seeing any political ad opportunities as the election cycle heats up?
As with any political year, we have seen an uptick in political ad buying. I wouldn’t say it’s been more this year as in the past, but we’re also just now getting into the heat of the election season so we’ll see if there’s a last-minute push in spending.
